Connect Pinellas will be joining the St. Petersburg Bicycle Club’s “Ride of Silence” on Wednesday, May 20th. This event is open to the public and participants should arrive between 5:30 PM - 5:45 PM at North Shore Aquatic Center.
The Ride of Silence is where cyclists take to the roads in a slow, silent procession to honor cyclists who have been killed or injured while cycling on public roadways.
The ride, which is held during National Bike Month, aims to raise the awareness of motorists, police and public officials that cyclists have a legal right to the public roadways. The ride is also a chance to show respect for and honor the lives of those who have been killed or injured. (See also RideofSilence.org).
Cyclists will ride out at 6:00 pm for a 10 mile ride along two of St. Pete’s most popular downtown streets (Beach and Central) that typically have crowded sidewalks, retail shops and restaurants.
